Most people understand that they haven’t been invited to plug whatever they’re selling. (In this case George’s grills). But this time the host made a casual remark about George’s products, something along the lines of how well they’ve sold. And then he went and asked for more information about the grills, how good they were.
Man, I’ve never seen anything like it.
George swung into action and I can’t possibly overstate the word action. He sure as hell didn’t need to be asked twice!
He turned and faced the camera. He looked the viewers right in the eye and launched into his perfectly practiced, proven million dollar sales presentation. He hit us with benefits and reasons to buy his stuff until the host called an end to the segment. I bet he could have sat there for an hour. I bet he sold quite a few grills in those 30 seconds.
The point is this:
I don’t know if George Foreman actually knows anything about selling, as such. I don’t know who came up with his presentation, and I can only assume that it works better than I can imagine.
All I know is that George HAS the presentation. He has the tool at his disposal, ready at a moment’s notice. He can flick a switch in his mind, start a script he knows perfectly and all of a sudden people get out their credit cards. The point is that anyone can have the same thing. If you can develop something like this, or have it doen for you, then you just point it at a TV camera, webcam, radio mike or sales letter and money will start coming in!
No ’winging it’, no being creative, no reason at all to mess with a winning formula. Dan Kennedy is always at about the same position in his speeches at any given point in time. It’s a formula which works, it works for someone who must be missing a few brain cells, why not you?

How Will You Sell?
Marketing textbooks discuss the 4 P’s of Marketing - Product, Price, Promotion and Place. Well, three out of four’s not bad, but the real issue regarding Place isn’t where you sell, but how.
It’s about mastering the four stages of any sales call - building trust, investigating needs, demonstrating capability and gaining commitment.
Building Trust
The old model of selling focused on building rapport. Selling today focuses on building trust. What’s the difference?
Rapport is a surface relationship - a connection based on technique, sometimes even manipulation. Trust is a deeper test - a connection based on real behavior. Rapport is the foundation for an occasional sale. Trust is the foundation for a long-term relationship.
How do you build trust? It starts with caring about the other party. It starts with focusing on service rather than selling. It starts with listening. Each of these elements - caring, serving, listening - never ends. Which method are you using on your sales calls - rapport or trust?
Investigating Needs

There is only one way to understand what your prospect needs - by asking open-ended questions. Open-ended questions always start with one of the six honest serving men - they can not be answered “yes” or “no.”
You might also want to consider listening to your prospects answers to your finely crafted open-ended questions! Seek first to understand, then you can worry about being understood!
Demonstrating Capability
Do you speak features or benefits?
Features do nothing - only benefits demonstrate capability. Have you really isolated the benefits of your products or services? Here’s a test! Take the risk of asking your best customers why they purchased from you. Listen how they describe the experience. Do they talk about your features - or the results they experience using your products or services?
Follow the lead of your best customers. They know why they buy.
Gaining Commitment
In golf, you drive for show and putt for dough. In selling, you demonstrate capability for show and gain commitment for dough.
Are you asking for the order after you’ve built trust, investigated needs and demonstrated capability? Are you still facing objections when you do ask? Are you walking away while they think about it?
There are no objections - only questions, concerns and conditions. If your prospect has a question, answer it! If they have a concern, address it. If they have a condition, resolve it - or move on!

Achieving Riches in Niches means occupying a dual role: acting first as a skilled professional, you must also be a powerful, effective sales force. Not only do you perform the services your clients value, but you promote and market yourself as the best place to obtain those services.
While you may be very confident in your professional skills, it’s the sales part of the equation that’s proving to be problematic for many Nichepreneurs™. Don’t worry. You’re not alone! Many Nichepreneurs™ find themselves in exactly that position: while they know practically everything possible about their profession, they’re not nearly as strong when it comes to presenting themselves and their services for sale.
Selling is both an art and a science. Sales professionals devote years of their lives learning the best way to approach a potential client, create and negotiate a relationship, and finally, most essential of all, close a sale. These are all specific skills, and you don’t automatically come into possession of them because you go into business for yourself.
Luckily, sales skills are the type you can acquire ‘on the job’. However, you want to minimize the learning curve and quickly gain mastery of these skills — after all, it’s literally your livelihood on the line.
One of the most powerful and effective sales tools — and one that is a logical natural fit for Nichepreneurs™ — is the consultative selling model.
Consultative selling has been around for a very long time. The model first appeared in the 1970’s, and it’s been used successfully ever since. A consultative sales experience is different from any other type of selling, because you begin the relationship with your potential client by providing value right off the bat.
Imagine this scenario. You’re a Nichepreneur™, specializing in workplace efficiency. If a job site isn’t working as well as it could be — projects are taking too long, customers are complaining, sales numbers are dropping — you want to be the person called in to get the team back on track. You’ve got great problem solving skills, years of management experience, and a staggering ability to cut through the nonsense and get to the core of the problem.
The only problem is, no one knows you can do all of this.
In a consultative selling scenario, you meet with someone who is trying to turn their company around. Free of charge, without any sales pressure whatsoever, you go to their site. You do a needs assessment, identifying challenges and problem areas. It’s critical to pay careful attention to the client, so that you both hear and understand what they perceive the issue to be and what outcome they’d like to realize. That’s when you offer some suggestions and solutions to their issues.
Implementing your solutions brings us to the sales part of the conversation. At this point, you’ve already demonstrated an understanding of the client and their needs. You’ve offered real value: insight and useful recommendations. The client is already beginning to trust you. You’ve lowered the sales resistance walls that may have existed between you and your client. Closing the deal is an extension of the process begun with that initial consultation.
The question then becomes: how do I connect with people in the first place? How do I get them to want to talk to me about their problems?
There are many answers to that question, and they all come down to one answer: visibility. If you want people to take you up on the offer for free consultations, the first step in the consultative selling process, you need to put the offer where they can easily see and act upon it.
Ways to do this include:
Print Media: Many publications offer an “About the Author” paragraph or blurb. Use this space to offer a carefully worded free consultation. If you submit articles to free content websites, make sure the offer is part of your boilerplate text (generally a paragraph that appears after the article), so it appears each and every time the article runs.
On Your Website: Feature your free consultation offer prominently on your website. Position it so that people can click a button or send an email immediately after reading about the offer — you don’t want to lose them by making them search page after page finding a way to contact you! Make sure to mention the free consultation offer sporadically in your blog.
Community Events: Community events are a great way to generate free consultation leads. Consider conducting a class, teaching a seminar, or leading a workshop. Offer all participants a free consultation. Only a few will take you up on it — but if those few turn into sales, you’ve more than recovered your investment in the event.
These are some of the most common ways to promote a free consultation offer. If you’re hesitant about your sales skills, consider consultative selling. It’s an easy way to demonstrate your professional skills, which may be far more comfortable than straight selling. You’ll grow and refine your approach with each consultation, and before you know it, meeting with potential clients will seem as easy as pie!

The Four Truths of Network Marketing

Master these four fundamental steps to network marketing and be all but guaranteed both incredible wealth and great success. Fail to understand the importance of but one, and condemn your business to flounder and ultimately follow the path of so many eager, yet unprepared network marketing hopefuls.
You may be thinking at this point, only four secrets to making millions and millions of dollars? Let’s hear it then. Actually, there is really only one. Time and time again, success story after success story; all have this one truth in common. So, this particular gem I’ll save for last.
If network marketing is all about networking and of course marketing, why do so many network marketers continue to struggle to realize the infinite networking and lead generating potential of the internet? Simply put, it’s being done all wrong. How’s that?
Network marketing (also known as “Multi-Level-Marketing” or MLM) depends most heavily on…
- recruiting / lead generation / relationship-building
- sales conversion
- ongoing consumption
- replicating yourself through down line motivation and training
If your network marketing business fails to recognize the importance and any one of these fundamental elements then quite simply, you won’t have much of a business at all.
Everything starts with recruiting and lead generation. No leads means no sales. No sales means no down line. No down line means… I’m sure you get the idea here. The entire process is built upon the foundation of recruiting and relationship-building with the express intent of maximizing product consumption and the success of your down line. Your bottom line is this. If you can’t replicate your success within your down line you ultimately fail to realize the true income generating potential of network marketing.
That being said, I’ll take this opportunity to summarize my own cautionary tale for those who are new to network marketing or who are just now thinking of taking the plunge. For those who have been around the block a time or two please bear with me. Much of my story may undoubtedly sound very much like your own.
When I first made the decision to start my network marketing business, I believed that with a great product and an effective marketing system, enough hard work would guarantee me success. I had the right attitude, but the wrong impression of what made this business tick. I expected to have a great deal to learn and I was eager to do so. I attended trainings, bought books, studied sales copy, purchased leads, ran ad campaigns, the whole routine.
I managed to generate a fair number of leads, and only a few conversions. For me that was fine. I assumed that if x amount of traffic equaled y amount of conversions, all I needed to do was… You guessed it, drive more traffic. So, here I am grinding like a mad man at driving traffic, and losing all but my shirt in the process. That’s when it dawned on me. Sure things are a bit slow going, but if my real return on my investment comes with creating a successful down line… How many members of my down line can I honestly say would be willing to put in this much time, effort, and yes money, for the same results. Not a single one…
I’ll say this once more just to be absolutely clear. If you can’t easily and effectively replicate a reasonable measure of success in your network marketing down line, then you are in effect spinning your wheels without going much of anywhere. If you assume that replicated content and replicated sites are the same thing as replicated success, you may want to think again.
Think of your business like a car and the content you provide your potential prospects as the wheels. If you expect to move your business you need the content you provide about your business to stand out. You need wheels that give your business traction. That traction comes in the form of having a unique voice and providing your prospects unique content about your business.
Well that about says it… Once you do your pre-selling and your marketing to generate your leads make sure you can provide good quality content to convert those leads into sales. Create an effective method to transfer some form of ownership to your down line so that they can achieve their own unique voice and replicate your success for themselves.
Oh and as for my million dollar secret… So, what is the secret that creates truly successful businesses, not to mention truly wealthy people? Here it is…
Do what you love… If you can find a way to turn your passion, your interest, even your favorite hobby into your business, then you will be in a much better position to achieve true success. Turning an opportunity to make money into something you love is infinitely more difficult that turning something you love into an opportunity to make money.
